Limited out on slot red drum and even released some in the slot, several under slot red drum, lost count of the Speckled trout today, and a bunch of short Black Drum but still got a few for the fish fry. The YEAH RIGHT II can handle the weather, but I would prefer not to get someone hurt because of a fish so I try to err on the side of caution. Seems like the transition from offshore to backwater went pretty good today. It was suppose to be an offshore trip, but as usual this year the wind was blowing hard and the waves were high. Today I took Noel Land, Charlotte, NC Tom Land, Marshville, NC Glenn Howell, Matthews and Angilo Hantzopolous backwater fishing. Sorry I'm so late in posting these reports, but I needed to get the names and then Butch had some eye surgery. These kind of days with my son are what I live. Another one of the best days of my life went into my book of life. I Know what that means, I need to get me some more Halo Shad's now.LOL!!! We had a great time and caught a bunch of Speckled trout ( and even a small striper) and even kept us 3 each for tomorrow night's dinner. The Betts Green Tiger Halo Shad was on fire. So much so that Chris is a "curly tail grubahoilc" but he said today I have got to get me some of these Betts Halo Shad, been trying to tell him, now he is a believer too. Well you'll never believe this but we went fishing today. He said it's supposed to rain tomorrow and we both needed to take a day off and go fishing. Got up this morning with the intention of cranking up the chain saw and doing some border tree removal, when my son Capt Chris called. I have several days to catch up on but this is yesterday's catch. The reason I have posted so many pictures is each pictures is of a different fish, except the ones where they are holding up two or more. Guess this means to forget about all the scientific jargon and when you get the chance, GO FISHIN'!!! Bite was good much to my surprise with the conditions and barometric pressure dropping from the approaching low. Had the 4th legal trout to max his limit hooked up a couple times but they pulled the hook. Loads of just under legal size and got 3 legal size for dinner. Here was when I realized that neither clouds, rain, wind, and screaming tides could hold Steve back from putting the trout in the boat this evening. Tied on one of the best trout baits I've ever used, the Betts 1/4 ounce Green Tiger Halo Shad, added some Pro-Cure Shrimp Super Sauce and went to an area I thought would be good for trout on the tide we had. Met up with good friend Steve Craven from the Ledford, NC area at noon today to go see if we could rustle up a Speckled trout this evening. These prices cover baits, tackle, equipment and fishing licenses for up to 3 people. Trips are $350 for 4 hours and $550 for 8. If interested in getting in on this, please call 910 845-2004 and we will book you a charter. The speckled trout continue to BITE as seen in the following report.
