First let me preface saying that about a year ago I was able to get a version xdebug to work with Eclipse PDT 2.1 with xampp under Vista 32bit. Phpmyadmin still had similar problems in XAMPP which were immediately cured by turning the firewall off. probably my fault as I forgot to turn the firewall off when I installed. Anyway, the XAMPP install completely screwed up my firewall settings. I think the initial problem w/ phpmyadmin was at least largely a firewall problem. but I think I have determined what needs to be done, with one new hitch. This is a condensed version literally a couple dozen hours of installing, reinstalling, grrrr. I've burnt days trying to get everything running properly and am frustrated to no end.
